Midnight descending on valleys of blue
All halos of sunshine have gone
The treetops bare the sky
And rivers flow beneath a golden sand
In the fall of summer rain
Rainbows of rapture lay tattoos of gold
On fields of the fallow in bloom
But soon a raft of love
Will capsize from the torment of the tomb
And the fall of summer rain
Silhouettes sailing a silvery crown
Are cast from a form of their dream
But all too soon they’ll show
They only fill their journey then return
To the fall of summer rain
Then beauties will bathe in the cold winter sound
Then dry from their warm summer minds
I’ll cast aside my gaze
Then turn and slowly walk the wooden shore
In the fall of summer rain
