o’er all the mountains

when you came o’er all the mountains
and the birds, they sang their song
that’s when i saw the light in your whisper
and i heard of the tear in your eye

then i came to the home of your dwelling
and i laid all my love to your floor
you smiled, like the wind through the meadows
as a pearl that was cast to the shore

had i not seen ne’er would i wonder
why you did cry, there in my hold
had i not heard there would be nothing
for the time that i lay at your side

and your smile there in the morning
made the night hide from the dawn
as i moved from your side did i wonder
when again would the moon bring your charm
